Gunner, my current dog, is a seven year old neutered male Doberman.   He is a retired AKC Champion, has his CGC (Canine Good Citizen) title, his CD obedience title and has passed the DPCA (Doberman Pinscher Club of America) WAC (Working Aptitude Certificate test) which is a test to assess proper Doberman temperament under a range of circumstances.  He is also a Working Therapy Dog (TDI), specializing in hospital visits and working with abused/abandoned/neglected teenage boys who reside in a group home.  He regularly accompanies me on private training sessions where he assists in socializing and adding a calming influence to the dogs I am training.

No matter the situation, whether you have a small dog or large, shy or confident, single or multiple dogs, I can help.   If you are thinking of getting your first dog, or adding to your canine household, I can give you very sage advice and help you analyze how to select the best dog for you.

Whether you have a new puppy, a doggy teenager who is causing you some problems, a new rescue dog who needs help, a new baby in the house, or are expecting a child or new household member, I can help.  Give me a call and tell me about your situation and concerns.   Your life will be easier and more fun once you do!

Trained my first dog at the age of ten, using Rudd Weatherwax’s (Lassie’s trainer) book.  My little terrier mix dog, Babs, was even trained to sneeze on command!

Volunteer Coordinator with the LA City Animal Shelters for over 20 years, during which time I trained volunteers, evaluated dog temperaments, assisted in the placement of thousands of impounded dogs and cats and counseled prospective owners on the proper care of their new adoptive pets.   In addition, I personally rescued and brought into my home many individual dogs of various breeds, had them spayed/neutered, provided them basic training and placed them in good homes.

  1. Judge/Evaluator for ATTS (American Temperament Test Society) where I evaluated  temperaments of hundreds of dogs based on  breed.  This gives me a unique perspective on what to expect from each breed, i.e. a Retriever is very different from a Terrier, who is very different from a Herding dog, who is different from a Toy.

I have 20 years experience training dogs for the breed/conformation ring.  Two of my Dobermans (including my current dog, Gunner) have been breed champions, in addition to being obedience titled and having their AKC CGC titles.

My best asset as a dog trainer is having more than 20 years of hands-on experience in many areas of the dog world, enabling me to help you with any behavior or training concern you have with your dog.   I look forward to showing you how to make your dog be the best HE or SHE can be!

My experience in personally working with thousands of clients and their dogs has resulted in an ability to focus specifically on the needs of the dog, and the goals of the owner. I formulate a personal training program that quickly and positively results in a well mannered dog without sacrificing your dog’s own unique personality.
